    Pros:
Interacting with the welcome team every Sunday morning is always a joyful experience!

The worship team is great! Shaun does a great job picking musicians and organizing the songs! It’s also very refreshing to see a mixture of young and old on the stage. Worship at Ann Arbor Vineyard transcends generational preference!

The Sermon’s are always very informative, and very well put together! It’s made noticeable by the seamless transition between speakers. There’s an obvious difference in presentation and perspective between Donnell and Nigel, but the information is still communicated in a seamless way.

There are so many ways to get involved and serve here! No matter what your skills are, or what you are interested in, Vineyard has a way to keep you plugged in.

    Cons:
Vineyard Ann Arbor only holds one service a week. Sometimes it is tough for me to get make it to Church on Sunday because of obligations in the afternoon. If Vineyard had an earlier service I would be able to attend with more regularity.

As an undergraduate student in my 20s, I decided to check out the C20s life-group. Upon introductions I discovered that I was the only person there who wasn’t finished with college or in some higher education program. I felt that the C20s group could be renamed to better fit its participants. It also doesn’t appear that there is a Life-Group for my particular demographic.

Ann Arbor Vineyard is hidden away and very easy to miss. Once an established attendee, this isn’t an issue. But I feel like it could be a barrier for new people who seek to stop in.

    Information specific to your situation:
The first Sunday I attended the Vineyard I felt right at home. The welcome team, who instantly recognized me as a new face, greeted me warmly. Afterward Lindsay Balazer who, in spite of obviously being very busy, personally welcome me as well. The tone was set for me to have a great morning, as I felt right at home on my very first visit.

    Conclusion:
In conclusion, I’ve found what I hope to be a new church home here at the Ann Arbor Vineyard. I’ve encountered nothing but warm people who seem to be genuinely interested in me as a person. The services are great, although the worship is a little more charismatic than I am accustomed to, and challenge me, not just every Sunday, but all the way though the following week.

  • We have been attending the Vineyard for 5 years. It has been a tremendous blessing to us. There is a great community with so many people who really care for each other and the local area. A deep commitment to the homeless, a Harvest Fest and Easter Egg hunt open to everyone with hundreds attending, wonderful music, substantive, relevant preaching, and so much more. The events that a couple other reviewers mention were painful to many, but as always there are two sides to every story. Even a community of faithful people trying to follow Jesus make mistakes. But the pastoral staff at the Vineyard have been humble and sincerely committed to caring. We have been impressed and touched by Pastor Donnell's shepherding of our congregation and his willingness to listen to anyone who has concerns or needs. He is actively and transparently working at his faith journey and this is special in a pastor. If you need a community of real people who are trying sincerely to discover how God can be an important part of day to day life, feel free to join us. We'd love to get to know you.

This church really wants to forget the past and poise it's self as a "multicultural, multigenerational, diverse church welcoming to all", however in 2014 they voted to fire a pastor because she confirmed that she was in a relationship with a women. The founding pastor Ken Wilson, stood by her side and resigned. Donnell turned his back on Ken and Emily and used the opportunity to become the acting senior pastor. If you are at all concerned about the acceptance of the LGBT community in the church, please don't attend the Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor. Ken was working to bring acceptance towards the LGBT community, he welcomed them into the church and it's unacceptable to me that Donnell used that risk and vulnerability to his personal advantage.

  • Vineyard is one of the most welcoming, accepting, and socially engaged churches I have been part of. After the first time I came, Vineyard reached out to me multiple times. The church strives to be a place that breaks down barriers to people experiencing community and love, and I found that to be true. The head pastor and ministry directors know congregants by name. Church staff look for ways to get to know congregants outside of church, and the staff are sincere, transparent, and ready to listen.

I have been impacted by sermons at Vineyard more than at any other church I've been to. The sermons are authentic, challenging, insightful, and practical. I have been challenged to action through the sermons, both in personal growth and in service. Pastor Donnell and Nigel Berry have a refreshing perspective and a commitment to reaching out to the community and putting the Gospel into practice. The church is very active in social ministries.

Overall, Vineyard is an incredible church. I have been part of many churches in my life, and it is rare to find a church as welcoming and engaged as Vineyard. This church has had a big impact on me.
